Phosphoric acid is a mineral acid with the chemical formula H3PO4, also called orthophosphoric acid. Orthophosphoric acid molecules can combine with each other to form many compounds called phosphoric acids.
The importance of using phosphoric acid:
1- It is a primary source of phosphorus necessary for plant growth.
2- It is an easily soluble liquid fertilizer that contains a high percentage of phosphorus.
3- It is used to clean sprinklers and drip hoses at a specific concentration.
4- It is excellent in alkaline and calcareous soils.
5- It has a strong effect on reducing the pH of alkaline Egyptian soil.
The harmful effects of phosphoric acid:
1- It is a corrosive substance that causes skin and eye irritation upon contact and ulcers in membranes and tissues.
2- It leads to poisoning if swallowed or inhaled.
