Characteristics – Features

Its effect in causing cell elongation has been demonstrated, and the most common one is Gibberellin 3. To date, no synthetic growth regulators or hormones belonging to the gibberellin group have been identified, and gibberellin is still extracted from fungi as an easy and economical method.
Breaking dormancy in seeds
Gibberellin compensates for the light requirements in other types of seeds.
Barley seeds are treated with gibberellin to increase the germination rate, ensure uniformity, and shorten the duration.
Reducing the dormancy period or compensating for it in plants that need it.
Activating the growth of dormant buds, which is beneficial in breaking the dormancy of newly matured potato tuber buds.
Activating the division and elongation of cells in the whole plant, which increases vegetative growth, especially vertical growth, but for a short period followed by slow growth. It is beneficial for achieving a leap
Rapid in the growth of leafy vegetable crops, fodder, and potted ornamental plants.
Flowering of long-day plants treated with gibberellin under short-day conditions, meaning that gibberellin compensates only for the effect of long days.
The treatment with gibberellin accelerates the flowering stage, shortening the growth period of the plant and thus hastening fruiting, which is beneficial for artichoke, banana, and other plants.
Inducing parthenocarpy without seed formation (seedless), as in peaches, apricots, pears, apples, and citrus fruits.
It doubles the size of seedless grapes when treated after natural setting, and it also increases the length of the pedicel to twice its size when treated before flower opening, which is beneficial.
The dense varieties
Delays the completion of fruit growth and ripening and the onset of senescence, allowing for a long marketing period, as in apricots, plums, and bananas.
